Female green lynx spider (Peucetia viridans) with hatching spiderlings.
Hidden amongst the tall grasses and buckwheat, Green lynx spiders can be found throughout the Southern United States and Mexico. Their bodies maintain a bright leaf-green coloration with yellow legs speckled with many black spines. Foraging on small insects they use a silk dragline to catch and pounce on prey. Female Lynx Spiders attach silken egg sacs to plants and then stand watch over their nest until the spiderlings hatch.
